Vamart | Nickelodeon IP Licensed Bag Collection Project Case
Vamart is an OEM bag manufacturer with certified compliance for international IP production. We undertook the custom manufacturing project for Nickelodeon IP licensed bag series. With years of experience in IP merchandise fabrication, we developed multiple children’s bag products for Nickelodeon, including cartoon backpacks, insulated lunch bags, shaped cardholders and drawstring storage sacks for retail and collector markets across Europe and North America. The project strictly follows Nickelodeon’s global IP manufacturing standards. We overcame technical challenges including cartoon artwork printing, children product safety control and multi-structure fabrication. Full-process copyright protection was enforced to deliver multiple bulk order batches successfully.
Project Overview
Nickelodeon is a world-famous children entertainment IP brand with many classic cartoon characters. Vamart manufactured the licensed bag portfolio for this brand. The product lineup covers oxford kids backpacks, non-woven drawstring sacks, PU shaped cardholders and oxford insulated lunch bags. A wide range of materials were adopted: oxford polyester fabric, non-woven fabric, PU faux leather and aluminum foil laminated insulation material. These bags serve multiple scenarios including school use, outdoor activities and card storage for children.
All goods must comply with US CPSIA children’s product safety regulations. IP artwork, color matching and character styling must strictly follow Nickelodeon official design guidelines. Closed production management was applied for this IP project. Design drafts, printing films, printed cut pieces and semi-finished goods are processed only in designated workshops. Complete material logs are kept to prevent IP artwork leakage. Sampling for every item requires approval from the IP owner before mass production launch.
Core Processing Challenges
The biggest challenge of this project is parallel multi-category and multi-material production, as different bag styles require vastly different fabrication workflows. First, standardized printing for IP cartoon graphics. Products are made from oxford, non-woven and PU materials. Each substrate absorbs ink differently, which easily causes color deviation and registration errors for the same cartoon character. Nickelodeon enforces strict consistency requirements for character linework and the brand signature orange color. Second, children product safety management. All raw materials and accessories such as fabric, ink, adhesive, zippers and webbing must be pre-tested for heavy metals, phthalates and other hazardous substances. No unqualified material is permitted on the production line, bringing heavy workload for material selection and incoming inspection. Third, manufacturing complexity caused by frequent process switching. Some styles are conventional sewn school backpacks, some are shaped PU cardholders, and others are lunch bags with aluminum foil lining. The workshop needs to flexibly switch among multiple processes: thermoforming, screen printing, UV high-definition printing, lamination, thick-material sewing and thin non-woven fabric stitching, placing high demands on production scheduling and worker craftsmanship.
Customized Processing Solutions
After raw material arrival, a dedicated incoming inspection station tests physical & chemical safety indicators and color fastness for oxford fabric, non-woven fabric, PU, foam, aluminum foil lining, ink, zippers and webbing. Materials can only proceed to production after passing inspection.
Printing processes are selected according to substrates: screen printing for oxford and non-woven fabric, high-definition UV printing for PU. The first sample of each print is calibrated against Nickelodeon official Pantone color cards, with special focus on the brand signature orange. Printing parameters are locked to ensure consistent rendering of characters and brand logos across different materials. Abrasion and bending tests are performed after printing to verify ink adhesion and resistance to fading.
For cutting: standard bag styles are processed with computerized steel die cutting; custom shaped PU cardholders use specially contoured dies to punch out precise curved outlines in one cut.
Sewing production is scheduled by product category. Backpacks require multi-layer thick fabric stitching with reinforced seams on high-stress points such as shoulder strap roots and top handles. Insulated lunch bags use optimized lamination of aluminum foil lining with controlled adhesive dosage to eliminate odors. Non-woven drawstring sacks are reinforced at cord eyelets. PU shaped cardholders demand precise stitching along curved edges and assembly of small 3D attachments.
After sewing, loose threads are trimmed and surface stains cleaned before products move to final testing.
Full-Link Processing Quality Control
A segmented end-to-end QC system is implemented. Incoming materials are inspected for safety specifications. Printing station operators check graphic clarity, registration accuracy and color difference piece by piece. Cut pieces are sampled for dimension and outline inspection. Sewing team monitors stitch density, reinforced positions and zipper smoothness. Finished products undergo load bearing tests, pull tests and abrasion tests, as well as insulation performance tests where applicable. The client’s third-party QC team may conduct on-site random inspections anytime. Goods can only be packed, warehoused and shipped by sea after full approval.
